Service Description

ENVOL is a reusable, autonomous suborbital spaceplane designed to provide flexible and cost-effective access to microgravity. Reaching altitudes of up to 200 km, it enables research missions with 3 to 5 minutes of high-quality microgravity. The service targets payloads between 10 and 30 kg, with recovery and data acquisition ensured.

ETOILE, a part of the broader vision behind ENVOL, is a reusable spaceplane designed for long-duration missions in low Earth orbit, capable of runway return with payloads up to 100 kg. Fully autonomous and compatible with European mini-launchers, ETOILE will serve needs in microgravity research, in-orbit services, and strategic applications. It complements ENVOL by offering a seamless transition from suborbital testing to orbital operations. Together, these two vehicles form a coherent and scalable service offering for research, industry, and government actors.

Objectives and Mission

The mission of ENVOL is to bridge the gap between ground-based testing and full orbital missions by offering reliable suborbital flights for microgravity research and in-flight validation. It is designed for researchers, start-ups, and industry players working in biotechnology, materials science, in-orbit services, and space systems development. The service aims to increase access to relevant flight environments at lower cost and faster turnaround than traditional orbital options. There is a growing need for such a platform in the post-ISS context to mature technologies (TRL 5–7).

Significant Achievements

The ENVOL service is not currently available. The first commercial flights are targeted for 2027, once the demonstrator completes its qualification and flight test campaign. However, we are already in discussion with potential customers and actively seeking partners interested in early access to microgravity flight opportunities or subsystem flight validation ahead of full service availability.
