France Biotech

Founded in 1997, FRANCE BIOTECH is an independent association that brings together France’s leading innovative health companies and their expert partners.

As a leader in health innovation and a privileged point of contact with public authorities in France and Europe, France Biotech’s mission is to support the development of this industry in France, by improving the tax, legal, regulatory and managerial environment in which these companies operate and by advocating for their recognition as a leading-edge industry. France Biotech also aims to turn French innovative health technology companies into world leaders capable of designing and developing new innovations quickly making them available and accessible to patients. France Biotech is chaired since September 2019 by Franck Mouthon, CEO of Theranexus and the Association has more than 400 member companies. France Biotech is governed by a board of directors composed of 20 entrepreneurs from biotech, medtech and e-health companies.

France Biotech 3 main missions

• Networking: to create networking opportunities for our members, to foster collaboration and expertise by organising events, conferences, workshops and webinars throughout the year.
• Think Tank: through the work of nine commissions and four working groups, France Biotech brings knowledge and expertise to member companies and to actors of the health innovation ecosystem, public authorities and general public. France Biotech spearheads proposals emanating from its commissions and working groups that serve as a think tank for innovative ideas. Our 9 commissions: Corporate Finance, Legal, Human Resources, Business Development, E-health, Biomanufacturing & ATMP, Medtech, Microbiota, HTID. Our 4 working groups: Clinical Trials, Market Access, Technology Transfer and Patient/families.
• Institutional Relations : France Biotech is the main point of contact with public authorities on health-related issues. The association is actively working to promote the development of the innovative HealthTech sector, with policy proposals relating to taxation and financing of startups, partnerships between academic research and industry, and easing of regulatory requirements.

France Biotech is both a national observatory for monitoring innovation in Life sciences and a platform for sharing best practices among all ecosystem stakeholders. The association regularly published reports on HealthTech innovation and the industry such as the annual review ‘Panorama France HealthTech’, reports on Technology Transfer in France, Advanced Therapeutic Medicinal Products (ATMPs), benchmarks on compensation practices, biomanufacturing in France and Europe. At the international level, France Biotech is part of ICBA (International Council of Biotechnology Associations), EuropaBio (the European Association for Bioindustries) and EUCOPE (European Confederation of Pharmaceutical Entrepreneurs). The Association leverages these interactions and synergies at different levels to support its members in their growth and to help modulate the environment in which these innovative companies operate.
