Three Consortia to Develop BSGN Industry Accelerators
The BSGN Industry Accelerators are entry points for dedicated industries, markets and related stakeholders to understand how exploration platforms can boost innovation. The market-driven Accelerators will cover their fields across all ESA member states. Their aim is to connect European industry to new business opportunities.
They will create a project portfolio from specific industry actors’ ideas and a fund to allow for a matchmaking to take projects to space. The fund will be supported by ESA with matchmaking funding of up to a maximum of 5 million Euros.
On 10 May 2022, the 3 accelerators met for the first time for the BSGN Industry Accelerators Launch. Each of them will focus on a specific market:
The BSGN Advanced Materials Industry Accelerator
The consortium of 6 European companies will run the programme in order to promote the opportunities for engineering novel materials in Space. The Satellite Applications Catapult is leading the consortium and will manage the accelerator with the Centre for Process Innovation (CPE), the Satellite Applications Catapult and the Technological Institute of Plastics (AIMPLAS), Innovate UK’s Knowledge Transfer Network, the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) Institute of Material Research and the National Composites Centre (NCC)
The BSGN Agriculture And Food Industry Accelerator
The consortium will support research and development in Space to accelerate the development of solutions in the field of sustainable agriculture and food. This contract is led by the Space Cooperative Europe (SCE) which works with EurA AG and Space Business Innovation Centre of Noordwijk.
The BSGN Life Sciences Industry Accelerator
MEDES, France Biotech and connect by CNES will support the product development in Space in biomanufacturing, health and pharma.
